二.  International Transportation Costs

 

1.   Weight Type

 

Generally, express delivery billing is measured by weight. In the international logistics industry, there are three types: actual weight, volumetric weight, and billing weight.

 

• Actual Weight: Abbreviated as actual weight, A-W or AW, it is the actual weight, which generally refers to the actual gross weight, that is, the weight of the goods themselves, plus the weight of the packaging materials used for the items. The actual weight of our car multimedia system is about 1.2kg;

 

• Volumetric Weight: When the cargo is large in size but light in actual weight, it is limited by the carrying capacity of the transport vehicle, that is, the volume of items that can be loaded. The value calculated by calculating the volume of the shipment according to a certain conversion factor is the volumetric weight. Shipments whose volumetric weight is greater than their actual weight are often called light paraboloids;

 

• Billing Weight Unit: In international express delivery, packages with a billable weight of less than 21kg are international small packages, and the billing unit is based on every 500 grams (0.5kg). Packages with a billable weight of 21kg (inclusive) or above are international large packages, and the billing unit is per kilogram.

2.First Weight and Continued Weight

 

The first weight and additional weight of international parcels are actually the same as those of domestic express delivery. The first weight refers to the billable weight of the goods, which is the first kilogram. The additional weight refers to each subsequent billable weight, which is each kilogram after excluding the first weight.

 

When sending 10KG by international express, the first weight is 1KG, followed by the additional 1KG. 3.Packaging Fee

6.   General Freight Calculation Formula for International Express Delivery

 

(1)Actual Heavy Cargo:the actual weight is greater than the volumetric weight

 

When the actual weight of the items to be delivered is greater than the volume, the freight calculation method is:

First weight freight + (weight (kg) × 2-1) × additional weight freight.

For example: 10 kilograms of goods are calculated based on the first weight of 100 yuan and the additional weight of 60 yuan, then the total freight is:

100＋(10×2-1)*60=1240 yuan.

 

Why multiply by 2? Because the first weight and additional weight are billed in 0.5 kg, 60 yuan for additional weight means 60 yuan/0.5 kg, not 60 yuan/kg, so be careful!Why subtract 1? Because the first weight needs to be subtracted. (that is, a billing weight of 0.5 kg is subtracted)

 

(2) Volumetric Heavy Goods: actual weight less than volumetric weight

Calculate the volumetric weight first, and then calculate it according to the freight calculation method:

First weight freight + (weight (kg) × 2-1) × additional weight freight

 

(3)The Four Major International Express Delivery Volume Calculation Methods:

• Regular Items: length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm)/5000 = weight (KG)

• Irregular Items: longest (cm) × widest (cm) × highest (cm) /5000 = weight (KG)

 

For example, a carton of goods with a length of 50cm, a width of 35cm, and a height of 80cm has a volumetric weight of (50*35*80)/6000, which is approximately equal to 23.33 kilograms.According to the calculation method, the volume and weight of our car head unit is about 2.5kg. (4) International Express Mail Sometimes Adds A Fuel Surcharge, And the Fuel Surcharge is Usually Discounted Together with the Freight.

For example, the fuel surcharge at this time is 9%, then the total freight = freight × (1 + fuel rate 9%)

 

(5) Total Cost

 

Total cost = (freight + fuel surcharge) × discount + packaging fee (possible) + other uncertain costs (customs declaration fees, remote surcharges, etc.)

 

7.The billable weight for air, sea and rail transportation is the higher of the volumetric weight and the actual weight, and the volumetric weight calculation method is different from that of express delivery.

 

• Air freight volume weight = length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) / 6,000 x number of packages.

• Ocean volume weight = length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) / 1,000 x number of packages.

This applies to less than container load (LCL) shipments; for full container load (FCL) shipments, per-container charges apply, not volume charges.

• Volumetric weight of rail transportation = length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) / 3,000 x number of packages.

 

三.International Transportation Packaging and After-Sales Service

 

1.International Transport Packaging Principles

 

(1)Suitable for Transportation: The purpose of packaging is to prevent and avoid damage caused by impact or vibration during transportation, and to take into account moisture-proof and anti-theft functions;

 

(2)Facilitate Loading and Unloading: intact packaging will facilitate the loading and unloading of goods, will effectively improve the loading and unloading efficiency of goods, and at the same time avoid possible damage to the goods due to rough loading and unloading by third parties;

 

(3)Appropriate Packaging: When packaging goods, appropriate size packaging boxes and packaging fillers must be selected based on the size, weight and transportation characteristics of the goods, and damage to the goods caused by insufficient packaging and excessive packaging must be avoided as much as possible.Waste of packaging materials caused by packaging;

 

(4)Product Protection and Anti-Theft: While packaging ensures that the usage characteristics and appearance characteristics of the express content are not damaged, more attention must be paid to anti-theft—especially for packaging of high-value goods;

 

(5)Integration of Packages: The outer packaging must be integrated with the protective material, cushioning material and contents of the express item, and there must be no gap between the contents (when one outer package contains multiple contents) or between the contents and the inner wall of the outer package. There should be no friction, collision and extrusion;

 

(6)Pay Attention to the Direction: For goods that require placement direction, during packaging, storage and transportation, you must ensure that the goods are correctly placed according to the arrow marks on the outer packaging, and avoid placing them sideways or upside down;

 

(7)The Center of Gravity Should Be Unified: The center of gravity of the package and its geometric center should be unified or relatively close. This can prevent losses caused to the goods due to starting, turning and braking during transportation.
